I had tried to do this before and for some reason, I just let it go and so to poke my writing muse with a dull spoke if nothing else, I'm going to try doing it in September *G*

Title: Jack's Memory Book
Chapter: 1/30
Written by: dancingbarefoot
Pairing: Jack/Ianto
Beta: None but if anyone’s interested let me know.
Rating: PG up to R, we’ll see as it goes.
A/N: Using the prompts from [profile] redismycolour to stir the muses.
Disclaimer: This is a work of fanfiction. No copyright infringement is intended and the real folks in this own themselves.

There is a small red book, not bigger than a hand span that is safely tucked in amongst the bits and bobs of Jack’s things that he carries with him from place to place. At first glance it appears that he has finally found some sort of peace, some religion finally catching that tiny place in him that requires forgiveness.

But instead the tiny book has space for 30 days as its intent.

He has filled it with 31 specific memories, a rosary if you would, so that finally he could remember without tears of pain, but instead of smiles.

Day 1 was attached to a paperclip that held in place a photograph and a written note in her handwriting.

“Don’t forget Jack, you promised her. – Lucia”

And he had every intention of living up to his promise, the need to see Melissa dancing with happy glee as they came to the fair was something that brightened up his day when the weevil chase and the cleaning up from alien havoc got too much.

His little daughter was the beacon of hope when he thought all was lost. Never once thinking that perhaps in her, he had the chance to make things right with Grey in some small infinitesimal way, that he wouldn’t let go of her hand in the way that he had with his little brother years or millennia ago.

But then aliens came and havoc ensued and chases were given and something had to give.

It was when he came up the walk with a beautiful doll and promises of extravagance and pleas for his princess yet again to start forgiving her stupid Papa that he noticed something was wrong.

All that was left was the photograph of the fair with a note attached to a photograph by a paperclip

“Promises are air and dust Jack, goodbye – L”
